Agricultural robots have already hit the media. Also, you might have had the chance to see demos on trade fairs and field days.
Yet, they can be barely be seen on fields or in greenhouses. Eventually, legal restrictions may pose a barrier to entry. Furthermore, the investment barely makes sense financially. Last but not least, niche applications like potato and sugar beet farming require certain capabilities, which are rarely provided by off the shelf robotic platforms. This is where our research project comes into play.
We are currently building an agricultural robot thats meets those needs. Most importantly, our bot is already capable of object classification and autonomous navigation. Stay tuned for the first impressions and field feedback!
